Mathakheni Village is a guest lodge, function venue and spa nestled in the farmlands of Lilyvale, Benoni,which has been awarded a 2-star grading by the Tourism and Grading Council of South Africa(TGCSA).We are situated on a 5Ha plot comprising well-appointed individual thatched rondavels with own garden.

We cater for meetings (both corporate and personal), buffet lunches, book clubs, birthday parties etc for a maximum of 30 people in our thached lapa. The open garden is used for larger functions such as weddings (up to 250 people) in a marqee tent.

Mathakheni Village Spa offers a wide range of massages,facials,manicures,pedicures,body scrubs,milky baths etc.

We are engaged in a self-sufficient and green environment with the use of solar geysers and an organic vegetable garden which supplies the kitchen with fresh produce of vegetables and a wide variety of herbs. Our meals are prepared using fresh ingredients and flavoured only with herbs. Some of our spa treats are prapared using these same herbs. We have indigenous chickens on the plot that we use for free-range eggs with bright orange yolks and for our african menu served with treats such as dombolo, papa and more.

Our objective is to provide a place of rest for the soul, an opportunity to reconnect, with emphasis on service excellence, peace and tranquility.

Though focused on a soulful experience, Mathakheni Village is located only 20 mins from OR Tambo airport, shopping malls such as Lakeside Mall, major casinos(Emperor’s Palace, Carnival City) and historical townships of Daveyton and Wattville (where Oliver Tambo’s grave site is located),Benoni Museum, Springs Game Park and lots more. We are also within driving distance (about 1hour) from places such as The Cradle of Humankind, the Lion Park and Soweto.

Mathakheni Village is located in a gracious, rural setting, providing the perfect place to recharge. More and more people are so busy with their careers and other commitments which leaves little or no time for themselves. We provide a peaceful place that provides the chance to get in touch with oneself. The use of funtion venues has become popular recently with many living in suburban areas with limited space.

Many spas have prices that make it difficult for an ordinary person to afford, which deprives many of the wonderful, often necessary treatments. Because of the use of natural ingredients, our spa is able to offer packages that are affordable without compromising on the quality of the treatments. We often work with students from local beauty schools in the area,which helps to keep our rates affodable when it comes to commercial products.

We currently serve both local and international market on the lodge side and have had great support locally in terms of the spa and our famous african lunches. With South Africa being the host of the Fifa World Cup 2010, this affords us the opportunity to show what we have to offer to an international audience. We intend to continue to offer superior and personalised customer service!

Litshani and Clement Tshuma are the owners and manage the business. The owners are intimately involved in all aspects of the business including gardening, cooking, housekeeping and only employ part timers locally who assist with larger groups.Our spa therapists are available per appointment only.

Having worked as flight attendants for many years, Clement and Litshani are experienced and passionate about the tourism and hospitality industry. They are bringing their world-class experience and learnings to Mathakheni Guest Lodge to give you a world-class yet affordable experience!
